When I am elected dictator, these are the rule changes I will institute in the game of tennis.
1) Only one serve. The serve was invented to get the ball into play, not to end the rally before it has begun.
2) Back to wooden rackets.
3) Players are allowed to sit down only at the end of a set.
4) Women have to play best of five-set matches, just like the men.
5) British players have to qualify for Wimbledon, like everybody else.
6) The following acts will be punished by the loss of point on the first occurrence, loss of a game on the second, loss of the match on a third:
a) Using a towel between points.
b) Bouncing a ball more than once before serving.
c) Calling for three balls from the ballboy before selecting two of them.
d) Emitting any sound during play.
And a question: why is tennis the only sport to be played in silence? It's a sport not the performance of a violin sonata.
NB. In crosser moods I sometimes believe that not only should there be just one serve but the players should only be given a single ball for the entire match.

I so agree with all of that. I watch very little Wimbledon these days, I just get too annoyed. Humph. Does that make me a grumpy old woman? Don't answer that, lol.
