I thought the ending (with the father) was rather blatantly lifted from the climax of Seven (or Se7en), if you've seen it. But I hope my remarks didn't come out as mean-spirited. We were completely gripped - as I said.

Thank you for your kind comments about Blue Monday. I didn't think it had been published yet!

We're just finishing the second book...

I agree with about 90 per cent! I almost did not watch after ep 1 because of the awful death scene, but like everyone else I was hooked soon enough. Your points about many of the flaws are good, though I think if you watch every week rather than close together you might miss many of these. For me, the villain was obvious on is first appearance (and the reasoning) so I just enjoyed the Sara Lund bits. For all her faults I thought she was a sympathetic character, though, I totally identified with her obsession as all her family members fell away. I most hated the ending, in the way the father was implausibly goaded to act in the way he did.
I very rarely watch TV but I did like this series (and the original Edge of Darkness!).

By the way, I've recently read your new novel Blue Monday and enjoyed it a lot, I'm looking forward to the next in the series (I won't reveal if I spotted any flaws in the plot ;-) ).
